"Now the old king is dead! Long live the king!"

On Saturday, I went to a family reunion for my mom's side of the family. It was a great get-together and the majority of the people were there. It was hosted at my aunts house up in Pinon Hills, and the weather was just perfect. Although i'm not very social with family I don't really know, I had some really good conversations with some great aunts and older cousins. The food was pretty awesome, and i'm sure everyone gained a few pounds. (That's what happens when you have really good cooks in your family) Otherwise, I kicked butt at a game of 'Mexican Horseshoes', found Mrs. Black in a QHHS 1976 yearbook, and got pooped on by a baby cockatiel. I have to say, I had a GREAT time. =D

With all this extra time, i've been baking away in my kitchen. Since we've moved, our new kitchen has given me all the room I've needed to bake. =] I guess I can say my specialty of food is dessert. I made the dessert course for my family reunion, and I brought along some Lamingtons(Pictured at Right), and my family LOVED them! I'm happy that I chose to make these for my Australian Extra Credit in history, because this dessert has become a family favorite! =]

During the last week of school for Hillview, me and Julia went to go visit Mr. Farris and help him organize his music. It was so great! After signing in, we helped him organize while listening to this WIERD movie that I can't even remember the name of.... Then, we took off all the posters and paper off the walls, and climbed on top of lockers to do so. ;] After all that fun work, we sat and talked. We talked about sooo much! I was just mentioning the major hyper-extension of my thumb that Dr. Price noticed when I play the clarinet and then Mr. Farris pulled this clarinet neck strap out of his storage room and gave it to me. {sorry Julia!} So, after a few tries, i've gotten it fit perfectly on my clarinet, and I LOVE it! Towards the end of the school day, a few old trumpet players came in, and it was really nice to see them all. Then after school, we bid our farewell, ate at Carls Jr., and went to Julia's to watch Yours, Mine, and Ours. It was a WONDERFUL day. =D

I believe the Coldplay CD came out just the other day...one of my favorites is their new song, Viva La Vida. =] You should listen to it.
I love this quote::
La vida no se mide por las veces que respiras, si no por los momentos que te dejan sin aliento...
Wow, i've been so bored this summer! I have gone out with friends, but I have to say, I like how occupied school keeps me. I know it't a bit much sometimes, but I like it better than having nothing to do...because during the school year, I ALWAYS have something to do. I'm really looking forward to camping for 2 weeks at the beach and Band Camp, otherwise...lots of sleep and lots of soccer are heading my way!! =]

Yearbooks are great things. I just can't wait, that when i'm older, i'll be able to show my kids what school was like. My aunt found some of her yearbooks for QHHS from about 30 years ago, and it's really funny to look back and see the school along with the students who went there! The school looks a lot like it does today minus all the gum. Oh, and it was a little bit old fashioned, but there was a remodeling of the school in between the time my mom and aunt attended QHHS, from the time now. If you want to see them, I've got the year books from '76, '77, and '78.

This last tuesday, Me, Julia, Priscila, Josh, John, and Sheena went to Denny's to celebrate the Life of Josh. The food was good, I saw Kung Fu Panda for the second time, and we went to Coldstones afterwards. It was really fun, and I think everyone enjoyed the outing. When Julia was taking Priscila and I home, we stopped by Priscila's garden to check out her zucchini, and boy were they HUGE! I can't believe it! Well, Tuesday was a lot of fun, and i'm glad we got together.

Yesterday I learned part of the thriller dance! haha, it was pretty fun, and no, just because I like Thriller doesn't mean I like Michael Jackson...I just like a few songs of his. =D

Well, this post has barely any pics....so here is one!

Jamba Juice is really good! I don't find anything great about the boosts...it never really works...but i'll pretend they do. =D My favourites are the Strawberries Wild and Carribean Passion. =]
Well, i'm off to go finish hydrating myself for Soccer...so talk to everyone later! I hope everyone enjoys this hot summer weather, and uses it to their advantage! (tanning maybe??)

Jueves

Ah, fourth day of summer vacation and i'm bored out of my mind. At least i've kept a somewhat occupied schedule. I can only imagine how lonely i'll be for the next few weeks while my brother is at summer school for AVID. =[ That means i'm home alone for the next several weeks....

Ah, I've started summer reading for the Pre-IB program, and I have to say I like these selections of books way better than last summers assigned book, Lord of the Flies. I've finished one of the books today, and I plan to finish the other soon. I guess our assignment is to take notes on them, but since I prefer reading through a book and enjoying it, I'm going to read them both again and then take notes. =] I'll have plenty of time this summer to do that.

I'm pretty happy with how my club soccer team is reviving from the hole we were falling into. Although we lost half our team, we have now successfully purged our not-so-good trainer and have found an EXCELLENT one instead. Although our new trainer, Ruben is awesome, he is pretty strict and he likes to make us condition. And boy, does he like conditioning. Our first practice with him (Tuesday) was pretty long. He made us run like 6 miles, and for our out of shape team, that was a lot. Otherwise, I think by August our team will be ready for season, and i'll be in a better shape to try out for the school team. =] (If my school work and band priorities will let me of course)

Well yesterday was pretty fun. I spent almost half the day at Julia's house, and Priscila came over too. After watching two very different movies, Edward Scissorhands and 27 Dresses, playing The Game of LIFE along with some rounds of Jenga, we had an AWESOME time. After Priscila left, me and Julia baked brownies and quizzed each other on 5th grade material, while looking through old yearbooks and listening to Five Iron Frenzy. So ya, it was really fun. =D

I guess I never realized how many Latino friends I had until all of a sudden I get all these QuinceaƱera invites. Being half Mexican, I was given the decision whether to have a QuinceaƱera or a Sweet 16. I chose the Sweet 16 instead, because then I can just celebrate it with my twin, Tito. Otherwise, this summer, my brother and I have some parties to go to (and dance in! =D) and I'm really looking forward to them!

Well, I'm going to go hydrate myself for soccer practice! Talk to everyone soon!
